(140 Words, #3) A Rock On The End Of A String

by Stu Andrews on April 6, 2011

in 140 Words

The burger was so very good. She hadn’t eaten in days – ragged, ruiny, retched – So it really was like the most delicious food ever tasted.

Carefully licking her fingers, despite the dirt and grime of weeks on the run through city and field alike, Bethany came to her feet.

The alley was dark, gloomy. The perfect place for what was to come next.

She muttered something about being too old for this kind of thing and then took out a string with a rock tied to the end.

The men appeared at the end of the alley. Men with gold eyes and silver weapons.

Whirling, the string made a burr sound.

Whirling, the rock at the end began to sparkle.

The air began to buffet the rubbish and trash cans.

A door appeared.

Whirling.

Bethany stepped through.
